We landed in PERTH on the 11th of October. Now we are both really exited!!..What adventures are waiting for us in this huge country downunder?? The customs search through all our luggage, checking our food, carvings and other souvenirs we bought on Bali. Are we aloud to take Anything with us into Australia??? *laugh*..Well.."varma koppen" wasn´t allowed anyway.
The weather wasn´t that warm and sunny as we thought it would be, I even called my dad to send another pair of trousers! It was "only" about 20 degrees..Guess I got used to the warmth in Bali pretty quick..
We stayed about four days on the westcoast visiting Freemantle, National Parks and here I saw my first koala and kangaroo!!! What cute little creatures they are!! Loved at first sight!
From Perth we took a flight right into the dessert..Or Outback I mean of course! The big red neverending sand....An awesome sight. We landed in the middle of it just next to the big rock..AYERS ROCK!
Here we stayed at the resort. It wasn´t that hot..only All we managed to do was sit..drink..and take a swim in the pool. Everyone talks about how amazing the rock looks in the sunset and sunrise. So, ofcourse we wanted to see that too like all the other tourists..There was just one important thing missing that night and the morning after....the SUN!!..
With all my respect for the aboriginals..But we couldn´t resist the adventure of climbing the rock soo..The next day we went to the ULURU an we actually managed to climb it, all the way to the top!..But believe me, it wasn´t easy! It is only about 2 km but you need at least 3 hours to manage..Cuz it is steep, extremely windy and you have abselutely nothing to hang on to in case you fall..Theres nothing but the rock..no stones..or anything. About two ppl dies when climbing it per year..some of them actually blow off!! But we are proud to say that we managed
Then we took off to the next place...We travelled by a small bus from Ayers to Kings Canyone. There was nothing but red sand, ghost threes and little bushes to stare at for the about four-five hours busride. We made a stop were we met some wild CAMELS and I kinda chased a "little" lizard to take a photo...Later on I found out that it was a aggressive type..*gulp*
The room we got at Kings Canyone was THE BEST we had during all our days away from home. We had our own fridge including water, coffee and tea, a TV!!! and the room was very big and clean. In the evening we went out to play billiard and have some beer..VB with some funny people including our crazy busdriver. Have you ever played billiard with bugs crawling all over the table??? I have never realized until then what damage they can course to a great shot! It kind of made the game even more exiting! i didn´t sleep very well that night...I was dreaming I had company in my bed...Not only by one but heaps of bugs and snakes..Euuuuhhh...Horror!!..
Next day we got up early and the bus took us to the canyone..It was me, Ann, a honeymooncuple and a american couple. We all decided to keep company and take the long walk up and around the canyon. IT was really beautiful. At one spot we all lay down on our stomachs with head over the edge to look down into the canyon. That was thrilling...But it looks pretty ridiculous on the photo doesn´t it???
The bus took us further next day all the way to Alice Spring with the dried river and miserable peoples...We just stayed the night and then took the flight to BRISBANE!!!
join me on my QUEENSLAND PAGE...Unless you haven´t fallen asleep yet...
